Shellie Baxter began envisioning her organization in 2018, motivated by the limited recognition and historical documentation available about her ancestors. Preserving their stories and honoring their contributions for future generations has become her lifelong mission. The impact of her family research continues to inspire her to share the methods she developed through her unique process, Legacy Tracing™.

As she uncovered gaps and challenges in traditional historical records, Shellie became passionate about helping others overcome similar barriers in tracing their family stories. She believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to know where they come from and to see their lineage reflected in history. Through her work, she has guided hundreds of individuals in reclaiming and preserving their family narratives—often for the first time.

What began as a personal journey has since grown into an international effort to explore how historical events on other continents have shaped families and communities in the United States. Her research now includes on-the-ground and aerial documentation in countries such as Ghana, Nigeria, Portugal, and the United Kingdom, revealing deep interconnections between global histories and American legacies. Shellie’s work continues to empower individuals and communities to recognize the full scope of their heritage—locally and globally.

"OUR LEGACIES DO NOT BEGIN OR END IN ENSLAVEMENT."
